Of Note:
I came across a podcast that looks interesting and informative. Check out HNNCast, part of the Hacker News Network. I am always looking for new feeds, podcasts, twitter users, etc relating to our field. If you have a few to share, why not try out the comments on this article?
And speaking of podcasts, one of our clients, TornadoVideos.Net has started a new webcast with the severe weather outlook for each day. If you like watching the specials on the weather channel, or just interested in severe weather across the country, be sure to check them out.
Digsby is an interesting study for me. As an IM client it offers a lot of features and cross-network compatibility that people want/love/need, and did it right. Except for one thing... They are funded by adware. They come out and say it, but they are funded by adware. Until now... sorta... According to cNet's "The Download Blog", the newest version allows you to opt out of all of the additional installs. It is however still opt-out instead of opt-in, but maybe this is enough. I'm watching this one because I don't think there is enough movement in this secotr right now. The only real competition would be Trillian and Pidgin.
Several hacker resources have been hacked recently including pakbugs PandaLabs uncovered a facebook password hacking services - via redOrbit Virus and Malware Authors are going opensource - via HardOCP PBS.org was hacked, serving malware - via ZDNet A mention of further security features in the XP mode of Windows 7 was seen on NordicHardware
