For those of you out there that are using P2P software to download music and share your files: please go and check what directories you are sharing. Until today, I did not realize just how many people share out C:\. For those of you that do not know, this shares out your entire hard drive partition. If you insist on using P2P software then create a new folder and only share that folder. P2P software can be very dangerous. Just about everybody does their taxes on their computer and saves their files in "My Documents". Unfortunately, the defaults of many P2P applications share out this folder. This is identity theft waiting to happen. So go and check what you are sharing out and do not open executables, PDF's, or other files from any unknown source, from P2P, Email, or any other method. |
